After five years of living in their Bucklands Beach home, the owners had had enough of carpet in the dining area. Even with regular cleaning, cooking spills and oily marks kept returning. They wanted a floor that was easier to maintain in the busiest parts of the house, while keeping the comfort of carpet in the bedrooms.
They contacted Lee White Flooring to replace the carpet throughout the dining area, kitchen-side living space and hallway with modern SPC flooring. We were happy to take care of the complete transformation.

Dining areas and hallways handle a lot of everyday traffic. Food, drinks and cooking residue can be difficult to remove from carpet, whereas SPC flooring provides a hard, practical surface that is much easier to wipe and maintain. Careful preparation for a professional finish
A quality floor installation depends on the details around the edges. Before laying the new SPC flooring, our team carefully removed the existing skirting boards and the kickboards beneath the kitchen cabinetry. This allowed the flooring to be installed neatly without relying on oversized trims to hide the perimeter.
We maintained the required expansion space around the new floating floor so it can move naturally as indoor conditions change. Every transition, doorway, corner and carpet-to-SPC junction was measured and cut for a close, tidy fit. The bedrooms remained carpeted, giving the family a practical combination: easy-clean flooring in the main living zones and soft carpet where comfort matters most.
Skirting repair and paint touch-ups included
Once the SPC flooring was complete, we reinstated the skirting boards and kitchen kickboards. We then repaired minor marks and applied paint touch-ups to the skirting so the finished room looked complete—not like a floor had simply been fitted around unfinished edges.

The entire Bucklands Beach flooring upgrade was completed in just one day for NZD $2,800. The result is a continuous timber-look floor through the dining area and hallway, neat transitions into the carpeted bedrooms, and a much easier surface for the owners to look after.
